Hope in Hopeless Situations

By: Shermaine Lou

Romans 15:13 – Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (NKJV)

Was continuing to read on Job and patience and something struck me when i was reading about hope. Job was close to losing hope and in Job 14:19, it says As water wears away stones, And as torrents wash away the soil of the earth; So You destroy the hope of man. When we are going through intense grief and loss, it is easy to lose hope because there is nothing that we can see infront of us, nothing to hope for and no future ahead. The only thing is sight is your suffering and your pain and it seems to really overwhelm you.

But we do have a way out. Our way out is in our living hope, through the God of hope.

‘Dead hope fades away because they have no roots, but our “living hope” gets better because it is rooted in the living Christ and His living Word.’ -from Be Patient by Warren W. Wiersbe

God is living and true and He is what we should put our hopes on, place our hopes in because hope in something that is living is hopeful as opposed to placing our hopes in something that is dead. When we start to lose hope in a situation, we are forgetting God’s presence in the equation.

May we never forget that He is our Living Hope, our Saving Grace, He will reign forever, He is Ancient of Days (: Place your hopes in the one that is living that even in the midst of suffering you may not falter but continue to grow with Him who is living, letting Him lead you out of the darkness and into the light.
