God is… Love! (Part 2)

By: Jerry Tan

God does not only say that He loves you, He does it! He did it on the cross and He does it through His children. You are loved, guys… we are loved 🙂 and I pray that we will never ever grow numb to God’s love.

How then can we learn how to show love?

1 John 4:8 says it all! If we do not know how to love, we do not know God. The kind of love the Trinity has is self-sacrificial. It is always always always about others. That why marriage vows are vows for one party to make with the other to say “till death do us part” That’s basically what 1 Corinthians 13 says. That is the kind of love shown by God and that is the kind of love we should show! Trinitarian love! Trinitarian love is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30). Trinitarian love is to Love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:31). It is to love our enemies (Matthew 5:44). For men, we are to love our wives as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25).

If you are sick, do you look for a sick man to heal you? If you were blind, do you look for a blind man to lead you? NO! That is stupid! If you are sinful, you look for a perfect man to teach you to lead a perfect life! If you do not know how to love, you look for someone who does…JESUS! The point of this post is not to tell us to be more loving! It is not! If that’s what you got out of this, you’ve wasted your time. This is to tell us to start with knowing God. Knowing Jesus! Once you’re connected to Jesus, you will love because Jesus is God and God is love!

Now what?

The invitation is simple 🙂 It is for you to be connected to the Father through Jesus by the Holy Spirit tapping in to God’s love so that you can be loved! AND THEN you can love God & love others with His love. AND THEN we can live the words of 1 John 4:16 “that we have known and believed the love that God hath for us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him”
