From my previous post (God is… Community!), the Latin word is “Circumincessio” 🙂
Circumincessio describes the shared life of mutual indwelling between Father, Son, and Spirit. It attempts to capture the profound reality communicated by Jesus in statements such as, “You, Father, are in me, and I in you” (John 17:21).
Circumincessio is a Latin term that literally means “seated in another, filling the space of another.” It highlights both the distinction between the persons of the Trinity and their mutual coinherence.

Okay back to today’s post! “God is… Transparent!”
“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God” – 1 Corinthians 2:10-11
If I could give a title to the passage in 1 Corinthians 2:6-15, I would call it “Inception” 🙂 I’m sure most of you would have watched the movie by now. If I did an inception on your mind now, would you be afraid? If anyone of you were to do an “inception” on me now… I would be sorely afraid.
If you are clueless as to what I’m talking about, come and talk to me! 🙂
In my previous posts, we’ve talked about the relationship of the Trinity and how amazingly close and relational our God is. We have one God and He is a divine community of three persons. God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. God is a divine community! Today we’re going to look into one aspect within this community, transparency.
The early church fathers used such strong words as “Circumincessio” and “Perichoresis” to describe the Trinity. These words give us a better view of what Jesus says in John 17:21, “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You…” Within the Trinity, there is no secrecy and hypocrisy, there are no masks. The Trinity practices perfect Transparency! The Spirit of God the Father searches the deep things of God! (1 Cor 2:10-11) Jesus claims that NO ONE knows the Father but the Son and that NO ONE knows the Son but the Father! (Matthew 11:27) Our God is a perfect community that loves and shares and practices transparency.
I am TERRIFIED to be writing about this. I am really ashamed of my sins and the last thing I want to do is to publicise them. Especially to my church, to the younger youths in YF, to the people who think that I am “not bad”. Honestly, I am dishonest.
BUT GOD is honest. God is good 🙂 our God loves honesty.
“Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is His delight. When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.”
– Proverbs 11:1-2
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, if we are to live Trinitarian lives, then we need to learn to lead transparent, honest lives. When we are brought into the fellowship of the Trinity, we will, by default, must lead more transparent lives. We will learn to lead lives that are fully offered to the Father, by the Spirit through the Son. This means we will lead lives that are Christ-Centered and Christ-Focused! Lives that have only one purpose which is to glorify God by enjoying Him.
A transparent Trinitarian life does not only mean we reflect God to the world but also one that is shared intimately with the Body of Christ.
Jesus prayed this for the Church (collectively)…
“that they all may be one, as You, the Father are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me”
– John 17:21
So in fact, if we want to lead lives that will point the world to Christ, we need to lead lives that are transparent for God’s glory, lives that are transparent to both the world and the Body of Christ 🙂
As usual, so much more can be brought up in this topic of “Sharing lives within the church” but I’ll stop here 🙂 but I do hope that you would be challenged come for Youth Fellowship, Young Adult Seminars, Young Adult Action Groups if you not already involved!
