Are You Ready to Flood the World?

By Ruth Jamir:

My last week was characterized by loud and joyful singing of songs in another language accompanied by wonderful actions (a great work out!!), lots and lots of glue, yummy, spicy food, excellent tea, precious memories and of course the 90+ children who came to attend the VBS or Vacation Bible School which we helped conduct in Coimbatore, India. At Zion Bishan’s Daughter church there: Zion BP Church of Coimbatore.

The 4 days passed by rather quickly. Our days were filled with singing and bible stories and more singing and craft time (which should explain the glue) and games and lots of pictures!!

It was a blessed time.

Being a daughter of a missionary i’ve been exposed to a fair amount of mission work, mission stations etc during my growing up years when we used to follow my dad around the country. However this time it was from a different perspective. Being part of a team who was sent to minister to the children through VBS was a very humbling and heart-warming experience.

Heart-warming because you realize that there are people all over the world you are connected to – because of the bond we share in Jesus Christ. And because of this bond you are able to relate to them across different cultures and languages. You can encourage them in Christ. You can share the same language of Prayer. It really is like an extended family. 🙂

And humbling because you see how desperately we need to share the Gospel because there are SO many lives which have yet to be touched by the Holy Spirit. So many children who have never had the chance to grow up in church, to attend youth retreats or camps. Who aren’t as blessed as us who have so many people to turn to for guidance and teaching. You come to realize that you are just a vessel, a tool being used by God. And there is only so much you can do with His help and nothing you can do by your own strength.
Yet even with this knowledge that we can do nothing without God, the Bible tells us that God STILL calls us to do His work.

Matthew 28:19 & 20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name for the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything i have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

One of the sharings by Elder David for one of the prayer meetings was on Ezekiel ch 47:1-12: which talked about the river flowing out from the temple. And how the Temple was Christ and the waters flowing out from it signified the Gospel which went forth and spread, bringing life to to whatever came in the way of its flow.

Isaiah 11:9 talks about how the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Habakkuk 2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Jesus talks about the Living water which springs up to eternal life to the Samaritan Woman in John 4:14

But how can people of the world know about this Living Water and this Stream of Life unless we who already know about it tell them?

are YOU ready to flood the world??
